How do I turn my brain off…

My brain feels like a full-time idea generator. It’s a good thing… lots of new concepts to explore, things to build and try… But with it being a full-time idea generator… it comes up with ideas at the most annoying times…

My most common time to come up with a really good idea is about… 2am… The idea pops into my head and that’s it… how could I do it… how should it work… could I do this or that… it’s now 2:30am… I’m tempted to just get up and start working on it…

Yeah… that’s not going to happen… but also… now I can’t get back to sleep… I’m getting frustrated that I can’t stop thinking about it… and now… I’m think about trying to stop thinking about it…

Aaaaahhhh…!

This used to be a very common occurrence… wake up… idea… think about idea… now it’s time to get up. A couple of hours sleep at the most…

My advice to you… offload the idea. Grab your phone or a notepad or something… write it down. A title, a brief description and any idea directions or points that you currently have in your head.

Offload the idea in a structured way so you know it’s there… it’s written down… you no longer need to think about it.

Get back to sleep knowing you can pick up where you left off when you’re refreshed.

You know the advert, you’re not you when you sleepy… or something like that…
