As a locked in, hyper-focused developer I find users REALLY irritating. You discuss what they want... they nod... you wire frame something up to confirm you've understood them... they nod... you involve them at every stage of development... they nod... you push it into test to confirm they're happy... they nod...
Then day 1 of the app going live... actually... we want something else...
Usually it's not that they actually want something else... the app actually does what they want... it's because the structured process they thought they wanted actually requires people to work in a different way... and they don't want to do that because it's new... and scary...
So... the new... efficient application which provides huge benefit is great at it's job... but the inefficient people are unable to adapt to support it...
It's easy though, they say... just add these work arounds, change the data model, bypass that approval process...
All the time I'm thinking to myself... why don't you just stick with Excel...?
I probably need to have a bit of patience, but ultimately... I hate users...
